EPILEPSY WARNING

A game about exploring a sprawling world full of mysteries and secrets, discover the truth about the kingdoms tragic past. Keep in mind that this is a demo and not a finished game. Please leave feedback in the comments. Constructive criticism is very welcome.

Keybord: WASD of arrow keys to move. Z, W of up to jump, S or down to travel through threaders, C or shift to attack. X to dash. V to heal. F to fire beam. 

Controller: either joystick to move. stick up to jump, stick down to travel through threaders, X to attack. Square to dash. Circle to heal. Triangle to fire beam.

The game should save where you were up to in the same device.

some cool movement tech i've found

slope launching

go fast into a corner and you will launch pretty high. you still can use the double jump after that

slope boosting

fastfall into a corner to get lots of speed

pogo boost

precisely time a double jump when you pogo( hit while above(gives upwards boost)) an enemy to get a large upward boost

also found a bug

i was in one of the barbarian cages with a barbarian and i attacked it and the two of us launched to the sky, like all the way to the city outskirts entrance

i have no idea how but it was kool

  • jump button instead of flicking the stick
  • also i think a more consistent pixel width and just artstyle in general would be good.
  • and the dash probably have i-frame and/or deal damage

How do you get past the room with the huge as heck robot? I cant shoot my gun at the big battery?

Hmm, I'm not quite sure which room you mean as there are several with very large robots. What does the robot look like?

also, can you add pausing and the world web to the controller support please?

(edit: can you also make it so the things that tell you how to do stuff in game (like the thing that gives you the dash ) tell you about the controller support keybind )

oh yeah, on the copper titan boss fight, when you die 'the pact' goes around the screen inside a black box. was that intentional?

I think you should make it impossible to reach the City Outskirts without double jump.

Also the timing of the drone drop on the big cog is off.

i feel like the jump could be a little more forgiving, it often disallows a jump when i’m just off the edge of a platform.

Need more sense of progress: how many rooms have I seen out of the total? How many bosses do I have left to find? Have I been to this room before?

couple of things I noticed in this update…

first tutorial message is wrong? W does not work for jump - but Space does. Also, Q works for attack but not mentioned in tutorial message.

I started with double jump and dash.

Bats seem too easy to avoid.

It would be nice to label the names of all the enemies, NPCs and rooms - for Lore.

Can we at least get an achievement for freeing the spirit thing?

The idea for naming things is a good idea but I thought that there already was an achievement for freeing the phantom.

A few suggestions from a few minutes play:

  • the jump feels too strict - if you press jump when slightly off an edge or just after moving up over a rise, the jump is disallowed. maybe the jump check could remain for 0.x seconds before it is disabled?

  • should cauldrons continue to damage you in their death sequence?

  • it is easy to fall into spike hell and it’s hard to get out because you keep bouncing when damaged so can’t jump.

  • option to mute music
